Gay, straight, divorced, single parent. Vegetarian, tattooed, pierced, promiscuous. Conservative. Liberal. Passive-Aggressive. Elegant. Bohemian. Eco Warrior.

To further complicate the “privilege of being who you are”, we live in an era when it’s cool to be special. Being an individual is the norm. That’s right. It’s now normal to be different. How’s that for paradox and pressure?

Liberating yourself does not necessarily mean that you have to barrel toward the fringes of the mainstream or claw your way up the corporate ladder. Sometimes it’s wise to suit up and shut up. Company dress codes, school uniforms, annual taxes, common courtesies – some kinds of conformity can be beautifully righteous and purposeful.

Ironically, when you know who you are on the inside, it can be much easier to roll with outside forces. Unexamined conformity on the other hand is downright lazy. Choice is like a muscle. If you work it enough, you make stronger decisions – decisions that carry you forward in the direction of your dreams.

To combat overstimulation, overconsumption, and overwhelm, you have to be ruthlessly committed to who you really are. Unwaveringly devoted. Loyally, royally YOU.

Positive reinforcement will light a fire in your belly and get you across the finish line almost every time.

And that’s just what a Style Statement is – positive reinforcement. It serves as your personal compass for making more powerful choices.

Try it – you’ll love it. Let us know what you think.

That’s what the sign on the freeway said. Truer words have never been written.

Delays happen when events out of your control slow your progress. This is different than procrastination which is self-inflicted slow progress.

Delays are a fact of life and should be dealt with as such: Acceptance = grace whereas denial = anger and stress (and road rage). It can be hard to remember this in the heat of momentum. But it’s worth remembering… taking a deep breath and planning how to deal with it gracefully.
