A wonderful Fathers Day gift for the stylish man in your life or the man you would love to be more stylish, is Scott Shuman’s book, The Sartorialist. Add a Style Statement Gift Certificate and you have a a man with substance and style.
I was privileged to interview Scott. He is lovely, generous, and a passionate artist, photographer, and businessman – an admitted Type-A personality.
“I started The Sartorialist to share photos of people I saw on the streets of New York that looked great. When I worked in the fashion industry I felt there was disconnection between the clothes in the showroom and what I saw real people wearing in real life.”
Scott Schuman

Love the Sartorialist site. We live in a small community and many people all look the same, especially the teens. The standard uniform of the girls is skinny jeans, a lululemon sweatshirt, Abercrombie t-shirt and Converse runners, all of which is a funky look but not at all unique if everyone is wearing it. So, my daughters and I read this site regularly and we love the street look, it inspires us to be unique.
Love this. Thanks for sharing this interview. And to echo Nancy, funk is definitely muted when you meet clothes-clones of yourself everywhere. Incorporating trend with your true style (using your Style Statement as guidance)
is a good way for your individuality to shine through the carbon copies …
Superb blog, kudos for writing this report
Thank you, it was brilliant to have the opportunity to interview a style icon.
I love Scott’s outlook on life. He sees the beauty and individuality in people. It’s inspiring and refreshing. His motto, “I’m responsible for my life” has made me think about my own life – my goals, my achievements and my actions. I’m getting motivated again…
Love that quote too. No place for blame when we own our life.
