Inspiration | Sincere Sparkle

December 18th, 2009

sinceresparkle By now, you’ve probably geared up for the holidays with sense of sweet anticipation…or angst.

Christmas shopping, dinner with strangers you’re related to, and “What to wear for the New Years party?!” It can be tricky to feel good when you’re out of your comfort zone.

But the holidays are, after all, an opportunity to give and to shine. And authenticity is a feeling that positively glows.

Intend to radiate sparkle. As you anticipate the holidays, before you’re swept away into the chaos, ask your self, “How do I want to look and feel?”

There is only one you – bold or subtle, modern or traditional, tailored or bohemian. To look good and feel good, do your homework. Begin by gathering images from magazines of what you love. When shopping, be clear about your budget and your style. Buy only what you absolutely love. If you shop this way all the time, you’ll not only save money in the long run, you’ll have plenty of good looks and good feelings to show for it.

Because your outsides reflect your inside, you exude confidence naturally. Now go enjoy yourself!

Long after the celebrations are over, it’s the genuine feel-good moments that become more luminous over time. Shine on.

  1. “Intend to radiate sparkle” …You know I LOVE that, Carrie! :)

  2. Oh, what a good yet sad yet true line: dinner with strangers you’re related to. Facebook has helped keep in better touch with my cousins (and then through them, aunts and uncles). I still felt the sting of those words though, partially because sadly my extended family doesn’t gather anymore since my grandparents are gone and the adult children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren are scattered geographically. And partially because with my DH’s family, the words ring all too true with how I don’t know some individuals and won’t ever because we just truly don’t “jive” with each other.

And as always, such good advice to buy only what you fully adore. And what a lovely reminder that regardless of what we’re doing and with whom, that at every gathering we bring along ourselves — so we are responsible for taking inventory of our goals/intentions … and shineability. Oh, I DO want to sparkle! Inside and outside, for myself and for others — how much better to give off good energy than to be a Christmas party pooper.

Many sweet wishes that your Christmas and New Year will bring wonderful moments that linger. Many prayers that 2010 will present good stuff to you and yours!
