To the rebel mothers and daughters out there, I say: less high street crap and more imagination. Create a scarf from your grandmother’s silk blouse, alter a man’s tweed vest, buy vintage accessories.

What a delightful, well-spoken woman! And so right. It has often been said that the average woman wears 10% of her wardrobe 90% of the time. I find cleaning out a closet the most relaxing experience. For the past twenty years, friends have brought me in to help them purge their closets. Even sitting here writing this makes me wish I had a closet to clean.

Wow, she is fantastic! My husband and I are moving home shortly and it has inspired us both to radically cleanse our wardrobes. It is such a therapeutic process.
