  1. By approaching the day as a canvas. What will emerge? What colors? What objects? What sort of feelings and atmosphere? And by approaching today’s canvas as though I am, to a degree at least!, “in charge” of what ends up on it and what it looks like (and what the world sees). Sure, maybe I run out of the beautiful banana yellow color. Or my preschooler accidentally knocks it off the easel, giving it a little more, um, texture than originally intended. Or the one available brush is eaten by the garbage disposal. Even so, I can use what I have, all I have … And sometimes fingerpainting our way through the day can add gorgeous dimensions and layers that an even brush stroke could never create.

  2. I will live artfully by going to a slow food celebration tonight, tasting and living the delights of our earths gifts.
