I adore this photo of my niece; ready for school, in her wacky and wonderful outfit.
She is the perfect definition of style: “The way, in which something is said, expressed or performed. A quality of imagination and individuality expressed in one’s actions and tastes.”
What’s your fashion style:
Girlie girl and tomboy!
Who are you?
Who am I? Who am I? Who am I? Who am I? Who am I? Who am I? I AM MARINA!!!!!!!!
How do you know you like something?
When I am comfortable I feel it in my tummy, it feels good. I want to be myself, wear clothes that are me.
Who’s your favorite American Idol?
I like Adam because he stands out showing who he is – punkish and girlie.
How do you want to look when you are older?
If I was old, like twenty, and wore a uniform for work, I’d wear a weird bracelet or necklace so people knew who I was.
If you could travel anywhere in the world?
To the bottom of the ocean to see all the beautiful colors.
Who are your fashion role models?
My momma but she wears too much black. Color is happy!!! Auntie Cardie for her shoes.

Thanks for sharing this! What precious answers and outfit. I have no doubt she could sprinkle magic fairy dust! (And, per Peter Pan, we could fly, if we only believed and thought good thoughts.)
Children are so authentic. Clear-headed. Know what they want and don’t hesitate to ask for it (well, sometimes “demand,” especially the youngest ones!). I look at my preschooler and attempt to imitate his authenticity. And his enthusiasm.
Children learn much from us … but I believe we should strive to (re)learn their childlike, hardcore faith/exuberance/automatic clarity. It’s still in us, at our core, even if it’s dormant or groggy or been ignored so long we’d have to lure it out again, promising to treat it better.
Thanks again for posting this. “When I am comfortable I feel it in my tummy.” What wisdom!
So cute! As Marina’s momma I remember that outfit, and I must say that some of her other outfits were definitely not as charming. There were days I
wold look at her outfit and think “Oh My God she isn’t wearing that, she looks
like she just rolled out of bed!’ I would try to convince her to wear the darling outfit from Grandma but to no avail, she was stubborn and happy. It was a great lesson for me on how to let go and to realize that how my kid looked was not a reflection of me.
Note: I am taking my daughter’s advise and this summer I am going to wear less black and more colour!
